Sometimes the best rides are not about speed, distance or records — they’re about the experience.
This weekend we went on a relaxed 70 km ride through the beautiful Mondego Valley, enjoying the perfect balance of nature, roads and good company.

We started in Figueira da Foz and Soure and rolled through Alfarelos and Vila Nova de Anços, taking mostly gravel roads surrounded by rice fields. The weather couldn’t be better — sunny, calm and warm, around +19°C — making every kilometer feel effortless.

What started as a simple weekend ride… turned into something much better 🚴♂️
One of our key stops was in Taveiro, where we took a break at a retail park. We grabbed some coffee, had a quick snack and even did a bit of spontaneous shopping at Action — a small but fun detail that made the ride feel even more like a real weekend escape rather than just another cycling session.
From there, we continued along the Mondego River, following its calm flow through the valley. The route crossed the river several times using different bridges, giving us constantly changing views and perspectives.
But not everything was as peaceful as it looked. In a few places, we encountered clear signs of the recent floods. Twice, we had to overcome deep drainage trenches that had been dug across the roads to redirect water after the storms. These unexpected obstacles added a bit of adventure to an otherwise smooth ride and reminded us how much the landscape had changed recently.
Still, the region is coming back to life. The fields are full of color, the roads are mostly clear again, and the combination of blue skies, green landscapes and water reflections creates truly stunning scenery.
We rode at an easy pace, enjoyed every stop, shared laughs, coffee and moments — and that’s exactly what made this ride special.
This is what Bike Universe is about: not just cycling, but discovering places, adapting to real conditions, and enjoying the journey together.
