Portugal is a country where every corner is steeped in history, and nature delights with its picturesque landscapes. Our new cycling tour offers a unique opportunity to discover these beauties and uncover the hidden gems of the region.

Our journey begins in the coastal city of Figueira da Foz. This well-known resort is famous for its wide beaches and mild climate. Here, you can enjoy the morning sea air and prepare for the journey ahead.

We start at 10:30 AM on Sunday, August 11, 2024.

Our first stop is a beautiful spot by the Mondego River, where you can enjoy ripe and clean blackberries, picking them straight from the bushes, and even gather some to take home.

Mosteiro de Verride

Our second stop will be the Verride Monastery, or rather what remains of it. This quiet yet impressive historical site amazes with its tranquility and ancient architecture. A walk through the monastery grounds immerses you in the atmosphere of medieval Portugal.

Parque Ribeirinho Montemor-o-Velho

The route then takes us to a beautiful riverside park—Parque Ribeirinho Montemor-o-Velho. Here, you can enjoy delicious coffee, ice cream, and for some of us beer, along with a short break. The park is perfect for a quick rest and a picnic (if that’s your plan), and it marks the midpoint of our journey.

Fans of technical attractions will be able to have a fun time on the site with various structures that will allow them to understand the physics of how water and technology work.

Continuing our route, we’ll stop at the old Moinho de Vento windmill. This preserved element of rural architecture is a reminder of the traditional crafts of the region and offers stunning views of the surrounding fields and hills.

Our final stop will be the Dólmen das Carniçosas—an ancient megalithic structure dating back to around the 4th millennium BC. This is a place of power and mystique, allowing you to feel a connection to Portugal’s distant past.
